The Dr. José Lourenço Júnior Foundation is a partner in a new and innovative project, financed by the EU through the Erasmus+ program, called PROLIFIC “PROmoting digital rights LIteracy For Including Citizens”.
This has a multidisciplinary consortium built to ensure full coverage of scientific, technological and social skills, bringing together the points of view of different stakeholders, necessary to develop, test and evaluate concepts, protocols and interventions related to the training of groups of people vulnerable (elderly people, migrants and people with disabilities) about their digital rights.
The Polibienestar Institute of the University of Valencia and four EU partners participate in this project: Fundación Instituto Hermes para el Empoderamiento de la Ciudadanía (Spain), Margherita Societa Cooperativa Sociale Onlus (Italy), Senior Europe, lda Kveloce (Spain) and the Dr Foundation José Lourenço Júnior (Portugal).
The main objective is to train professionals who work with those vulnerable groups and the creation and validation of specific digital tools for each of the same groups.
This will be an important step to raise awareness about the issue of digital rights of internet users, particularly those with low digital literacy, as well as creating tools to protect vulnerable groups, whether by fraud, identity theft, intimidation, phishing or other practices. The project will also contribute to support the fight against the dissemination of discriminatory, racist, xenophobic, anti-Semitic, homophobic or sexist messages.
For this project, the Dr. José Lourenço Júnior Foundation has the collaboration of the Professional School ETPSicó, with whom it has successfully developed several projects for the digital inclusion of the senior community.
The project began in March this year and will last for 24 months.
